The book, written by Owen Jones, one of the leading architects of the 1851 Great Exhibition in London, is one of the most influential collections from Victorian England and an inspiring source on architectural ornamental motifs.
Over 2,300 original color engravings illustrate a wide variety of decorative styles, from ancient Egypt through Greece and China to Elizabethan Era England. Owen Jones‘s groundbreaking work, with modern commentary by Iain Zaczek, was published in Hungarian in 2004 by Cser Publishing and reprinted in 2019.
